Canoe the Russian River! Burke's is located 12 miles away. Pick up your canoe and enter the water at their facility and head downriver for about 10 miles. It's a leisurely paddle and there are lots of gravel beaches where you can stop for a picnic or a swim. Their bus will pick you up about a mile from town and take you back to your car! Don't forget sunscreen. Note: They are open only during the summer months. Cost about $60 for a canoe for the day.
Fantastic wine and cheese shop just 10 miles downriver in Duncan's Mills. Sophie's offers a unique and extensive collection of regional wines. To complement your wine, they stock regional cheeses, salumi, bakery goods from Raymond's Bakery and Mom's Apple Pies, plus lots of other goodies. One of our very favorite places.
There are lots of places to go wine tasting nearby. Seriously. Lots and lots. Fabulous wines, beautiful views and some great winery events. The Wine Road site has all the info you'll need to put a great tasting trip together!
