Canoe the Russian River! Burke's is located 12 miles away. Pick up your canoe and enter the water at their facility and head downriver for about 10 miles. It's a leisurely paddle and there are lots of gravel beaches where you can stop for a picnic or a swim. Their bus will pick you up about a mile from town and take you back to your car! Don't forget sunscreen. Note: They are open only during the summer months. Cost about $60 for a canoe for the day.
Fantastic wine and cheese shop just 4 miles downriver in Monte Rio. Sophie's offers a unique and extensive collection of regional wines. To complement your wine, they stock regional cheeses, salumi, bakery goods from Raymond's Bakery and Mom's Apple Pies, plus lots of other goodies. One of our very favorite places.
There are lots of places to go wine tasting nearby. Seriously. Lots and lots. Fabulous wines, beautiful views and some great winery events. The Wine Road site has all the info you'll need to put a great tasting trip together!
Offers massage therapy at Highlands either outdoors in the center of a grove of mature redwoods or indoors in the comfortable '"Tuscan Room". Book a massage when you make your reservation!
Yep, pay good money to sit in a vat of mud. We love this place! The experience hasn't changed for over 100 years. Very relaxing, very vintage and an Olympic size hot pool to float around in after your treatment. Only a 45 minute drive away.
4-Star dining only 1/4 mile away! We love Applewood and not just because it's close by. Great locally sourced food, some of it raised in their on-site vegetable gardens and orchard.
Every year at the beginning of November you can taste great wine paired with outstanding food (plus you get the recipes)! Usually there are over 50 wineries participating in this fun weekend event. Fee includes wine glass and recipe book.
